I just so happened to stumble on this website when I googled "Knightstown, Indiana". A website called "Ghosts of America" (www.ghostsofamerica.com) has a story of a local phantom. Here's the repost:

By daylight Knightstown, Indiana is your common American settlement, but there are ghosts in this settlement, and they emerge at night. There have been loads of happenings with individuals from another realm. A number of locals argue these accounts are untrue, but everybody who resides in Knightstown is not alive.
These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.
The ghost of a young-looking female with a wire around her neck is once in a while perceived looking at a person sleeping on a mattress in an apartment in Knightstown. Well, it without a doubt is a menacing
ghost that you wouldn't wish to bump into before dawn.
A guy lacking a head has been said to have been made out on one or two occasions trying on a shirt in a Knightstown mobile home.
The phantom of an elderly gold digger with a large beard and a wooden right leg can sometimes be spotted down by Knightstown Spring in the early morning hours howling. A number of of the folks who live here say this ghost is the undeparted soul of a long gone Knightstown person who lived here.
